Adoption || Oocyte / Sperm Donation || Surrogacy

Although ART can help a lot of subfertile/infertile couples to achieve their ultimate goal of achieving a pregnancy, there are sometimes disappointment to some couples. Also, going through ART treatments can be very stressful in a lot of ways, and they may not be suitable for everybody. However, if the two of you would really like to start your own family, there are still some other options to do so.

Adoption

Legal adoption can be arranged upon repeated failures of treatment or when the couple decides to give up further infertility treatment.

Oocyte / Sperm Donation

For patients with premature ovarian failure, absent ovaries or genetic disease who are unable to provide healthy oocytes, oocyte donation can be considered. On the other hand, sperm donation can be considered for patients with azoopsermia, genetic disease or severe male factor. Before donation, the donors have to be tightly screened for any possible transmitted disease and assessed for suitability according to the Code of Practice on Reproductive Technology & Embryo Research. The number of donors for both oocytes and sperm is limited in Hong Kong and donation should not be performed at a commercial base.

Surrogacy
